Must know before taking Chinese Medicine – Therapeutic Response
During the TCM treatment cycle, various reactions may occur, many patients are difficult to understand this, and even mistaken it for improper or miss-treatment. As such, we must explain in detailed.
The so-called therapeutic response is the patient’s body primitive qi 元气 to resist disease or expel the diseases, and the primitive qi is fully mobilised to eliminate the diseases, terminate and expel them out from the body. This phenomenon can be summarised into three types:
The patient experienced some symptoms that he/she have never experienced before.
Such as liver disease after treatment, there have been swelling on both eyes, dizziness, vaginal discharge etc. This is the reaction of the ‘disease’ to escape through meridian channels, it's also the initial response of the treatment.
Another phenomenon, after the treatment, the disease has a short-lived aggravated response. This is a "struggling" phenomenon in which the disease fights with the body’s primitive qi, and it’s not the deteriorating of the disease.
Therefore, there is no need to worry and doubt. If there is no such Treatment Response, then the disease may be difficult to treat or hard to cure.
After the patient received treatment, the disease that he had suffered a few years ago or even decades ago relapsed.
If there has been a history of fractures, pain has reappeared at the fracture site; those who have had a history of stomach problems have reappeared in the stomach. This shows that the disease previously suffered did not completely heal, but due to the exertion of the primitive qi function, when the overall adjustment was made, it was cleared out again, and eventually the purpose of the treatment is eliminate the 'disease'. From this point of view, this is a great thing to happen. This reaction is a good response to treatment. It is protective for the body, but rest assure, It will never happen, for example, because of previous cerebral haemorrhage, this reaction will definitely NOT lead to cerebral haemorrhage, or there was a history of fracture before. This response will definitely NOT causes fractures again.
Traditional Chinese medicine to regulate the body is not simply to treat the patient's current disease, but it is also a way to adjust the body as a whole.
In other words, while the patient is treating the current disease, other old and old diseases have also been well adjusted and treated.
The Disease Response is where the reaction of the ‘disease’ is excreted by the skin, pores, emotions and other ways. The disease response is come with many forms and changeable.
(1)Cold Reaction:
For diseases caused by ‘coldness’, the disease can be cured only if persistent ‘coldness’ is dispersed from the body.
According to clinical observation, the dispersion of 'cold pathogens' 寒邪 is mostly discharged by symptoms of colds, sneezing, nasal mucus, diarrhoea, etc., or discharged from the meridians points and limbs. There are also a small number of patients discharged from the breath and flatulence.
For treatment of bronchial or asthmatic patients, colds, sneezing, nasal mucus, and symptoms of respiratory irritations at extremely cold; Women suffer from chills during confinement months, after treatment, they often experience cold extremities.
(2)Flatulence reaction:
Diseases caused by emotional depression are mostly discharged in the form of emotional reactions and flatulence and hiccup. After the treatment of most female patients, there are often unexplained irritability, sadness, and grievances, which naturally disappear after a few days and the disease is significantly relieved or healed. Patients with liver-to-stomach imbalance problem often have a large amount of flatulence, or a large amount of gas exhaust from the mouth.
(3)Perspiration reaction:
Diseases caused by Phlegm dampness 痰湿 are mostly excreted by a large amount of coughing, frequent urination, diarrhea, and excessive perspiration.
(4)Diarrhea reaction:
The disease caused by ‘fire poisoning’ 火毒 is mostly excreted by sores, itchiness, swelling, fever, urine redness, and diarrhea with the burning sensation in the anus.
(5)Other discharge reactions:
The diseases caused by blood stasis 瘀血 are often excreted by bruise, blood in the stool, cough with blood stain, and menstruation.
(6)Insomnia and drowsiness:
Almost every patient can experience the phenomenon. This is a manifestation of the good health of the human body to perform its own healing adjustment, The recovery of primitive qi must be supplemented by good rest and sleep.
(7)Pneumatic response 气感反应:
After clinical treatment, many patients often suffer from numbness, bloating, cold, heat, arching, lethargic, itching, ‘insect crawling’, ‘ants walking’, or involuntary ‘beating’ and twitching. This is an inevitable reaction that occurs when the vitality is raging and the stagnation of the meridians is open. This is similar to the “eight-touch reaction” 八触反应” occurs when practicing qigong or meditation.
(8)Fever response:
In the course of treatment, patients often have unexplained body feverish and fever, which is the sign of the body's immune system is regulating.
(9)Gastrointestinal reactions :
The gastrointestinal response plays a crucial role in the treatment of the entire disease. Because the process of physical disease recovery requires the consumption of certain energy, and the source of energy is provided by the nutrients of the foods digested by the gastrointestinal tract; in addition, the gastrointestinal tract is the channel through which most waste/toxins are discharged to the body, therefore, its reaction is extremely complicated.
Abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, improved appetite, loss of appetite and other reactions are all related to the adjustment of the gastrointestinal tract.
The three reactions mentioned above often occur at the same time. The treatment response and the relapse reaction of the old disease will generally have an uncomfortable feeling. Do not be afraid. As the treatment progresses, it usually disappears about 7 days. If the lesion is serious, you need to wait about half a month!
How to react to Therapeutic Response:
1.During the course of the Therapeutic Response, it will feel very relaxed and comfortable, and the disease will be significantly improved and eventually cured.
2.When treating acute illness, the patient feels very uncomfortable. After the treatment, the uncomfortable symptoms disappear.
3.For severe treatment, in the transitional period of illness, it is necessary to temporarily maintain the supply of energy by intravenous infusion, but it cannot be long-term dependent. Such as liver abscess, after a period of treatment, the sepsis will be discharged into the gastrointestinal tract through the biliary tract, this time, it will produce severe diarrhea and vomiting, sometimes lasting about 7 days, it will feel very uncomfortable, the patient a large number of dehydration fluid loss, When it is necessary, it often requires intravenous fluids (sugar salt and energy mixture) to maintain nutrition temporarily.
Tips:
The above all kinds of detoxification reactions occur in some patients, and not every patient will appear. The majority of patients respond: the disease is relieved without these detoxification reactions. So, please, don't be afraid when symptoms of Therapeutic Response surface, If it's don't appear, and don't seek to have it appear. Take it easy, when your mind is peaceful and your body can recover quickly!
